Umm ʾAbīhā (Arabic: أمّ أبیها) is an epithet of Lady Fatima (a) which literally means the mother of her father.
Umm Abiha is an Arabic epithet which literally means “the mother of her father”. This epithet was given to daughters by their fathers as a sign of affection and fondness. According to the position of Lady Fatimat al-Zahra (a) toward the Prophet (s) , he used to call her by this epithet. The epithet,[1] is still used by Shi’a to indicate Lady Fatima (a).
In a narration Imam al-Sadiq (a) quotes from Imam al-Baqir (a) that Umm Abiha is Lady Fatima’s (a) teknonym.[2]
‘Abd Allah b. Ja’far b. Abi Talib[3] and Imam al-Kazim (a) also had daughters named “Umm Abiha”.[4]
